nacamar GmbH, one of the leading streaming and media hosting providers in Germany, and Kaltura Inc., developer of the first open source online video platform, have joined forces to offer Kaltura’s video management solution to broadcasters, publishers, content providers, multimedia agencies, enterprises and educational institutions in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Hosted in nacamar’s Frankfurt-based data center, the Kaltura solution serves as the basis for nacamar’s online video service medianac® 2.0. The combined service will be presented at CeBIT 2010 for the first time.
Uwe Schnepf, Managing Director of nacamar: “The European Market for online media solutions is growing fast. With Kaltura we found the perfect partner to address its needs. The company offers one of the world’s best online video systems as open source. This complements our open system approach, that is, defined interfaces with existing content management systems as well as individual players and front-end design by multimedia partners and agencies. Together with Kaltura, we will be able to offer one of the best and most flexible online video services in Europe.”
At the trade show CeBIT 2010, nacamar will relaunch its online video service medianac® as version 2.0 on the basis of Kaltura’s open source online video platform. medianac® 2.0 offers state-of-the-art content upload, transcoding, metadata management, pIayer and playlist or channel management, ad-integration, detailed usage statistics, community functions, and players which customers can integrate into their websites. In combination with nacamar’s Media Delivery Network, which is one of the largest and most powerful Flash streaming server platforms in Germany and possibly Europe, as well as nacamar’s VMware-based Shared Hosting, the “medianac® powered by Kaltura” solution will form the heart of nacamar’s new strategic market approach in the innovative realm of online media applications.
“We are very happy to team with cutting edge streaming service provider nacamar who hosts some of the most prestigious brands throughout Europe. Kaltura’s on-premise OEM Edition allows ISPs, CDNs, hosting & service providers and global organizations to resell and extend video management solutions to their customers and target markets – all hosted on their own data centers, with full control. Kaltura is the only provider on the market that offers a self-hosted online video platform, as well as an OEM edition of this platform, striking the perfect balance between build versus buy,” said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura Chairman and CEO. “Kaltura has emerged as the fastest growing online video platform in North America, and now, together with nacamar, we are looking forward to replicating that success in Europe.”
