Social Networks Spotlight: Weplay

Challenge

Weplay, a social youth sports community owned in part by Major League Baseball, was looking for a comprehensive rich-media platform to power their dynamic online community which enables kids, families, coaches and fans to connect, share, learn and have fun.

Results

Weplay integrated Kaltura's end-to-end rich media platform to provide users with the ability to upload videos and pictures, share media, create galleries and albums and much more. Kaltura's solution was tailored to fit the needs of a youth community and features a strong emphasis on content moderation and safety. Weplay and Kaltura co-developed a custom interface for displaying images and thumbnails on the fly, in a wide range of sizes, resolutions, and configurations. Weplay also used the platform to develop a new application called Click-a-Pic – where members can vote for their favorite pictures. Weplay leveraged Kaltura's flexible APIs to configure its own complex flows, such as uploading media into albums, and utilized Kaltura's versioning and permissioning features to strengthen the safety and security of member profiles.
