Technical Implementation Engineer (OnPrem™)/ New York, NY
Do you enjoy fixing software implementation puzzles?

■ The Kaltura OnPrem™ product supports 25+ software integrations, 14+ different CDN integrations, 12 different server roles, delivering to 3 major industries with their own use cases — pick your combination...and every OnPrem™ deployment becomes unique. This means your technical and human skillset must be diverse and willing to tackle everything related to what goes into deploying an online platform that will support hundreds of thousands of end-users. These are live, production, high-user systems, that are RHEL/CentOS based.
■ The OnPrem™ team also has the privilege of taking on the toughest of deployment challenges for the Kaltura product. We handle what is not out-of-the-box, what is not the standard, what most say, “will be hard to do”.
■ You will eventually be called upon to adapt on-the-fly and implement software fixes under the pressure of critical business goals.
■ In the beginning of a deployment, you will validate what our Solutions Architects have crafted, at times even crafting your own solution or heavily modifying theirs. You will then be in the front lines with the customer scoping the requirements and preparing expectations. And finally, you’ll be diving into the trenches to deploy the cluster that you have personally designed and troubleshooting any network or server environment issues.
 ■ The OnPrem™ product line will present you with one of the toughest challenges in your career while exposing you first-hand to how leading companies and educational institutions in the world use video to improve their business performances.

The Role
  • Smartly deploy the OnPrem™ product per customer's requirements
  • Configure and integrate the system with customer’s existing systems, applications and providers
  • Troubleshoot and pinpoint any technical challenges for the deployments (your SQA experience will likely kick-in here)
  • Gather data on issues and escalate to R&D in a professional manner
  • Troubleshoot and fix simple backend (LAMP) and frontend (HTML, jQuery, CSS) issues
  • Provide remote and on-site training to customer’s IT personnel
  • Document customer’s environment and issues
  • Be the on-premises representative of Kaltura and provide the most professional and courteous service available

Requirements
  • Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP) experience – or reasonable exposure – to managing live, production, high-user systems, that are preferably RHEL/CentOS based
  • SQA/UAT doesn't bother you one bit
  • Shell scripting experience
  • Some or lots of experience with SVN or Git
  • Your genetic makeup drives you to discover fixes or workarounds on your own when documentation is lacking
  • When at first you can't figure things out, it bothers you to the point of HAVING to figure things out. "Troubleshoot" is practically your middle name
  • Must be comfortable working in a dynamic and challenging environment, interacting with many different people and teams with differing goals
  • Great customer service and communication (oral and written) skills
  • You're known for your ability to remain calm and focused when others are showing the stress they're under
  • You're a "self-documenter" whose work style is pretty orderly

Advantages If You Can Offer

Don't worry – you can probably learn these just like you've learned other technologies; but if you have them...

  • Video experience – encoding, streaming
  • CDN configuration experience (Akamai, etc.)
  • Experience working with VMware ESX and other virtual environments
  • Network experience working with production load balancers, SSL certificates, firewalls, VPNs, network and storage devices
  • Hands-on experience with web development – Debugging or fixing HTML, JavaScript or CSS issues
